Last month, we quietly passed a major milestone: Viewport XR turned 10 years old.

A decade. In the world of technology, that’s several lifetimes. Ten years ago, we set up our first small studio in Fremantle, driven by a belief that felt audacious at the time. We’re now celebrating from our bustling studio in the heart of Perth CBD, having delivered over 400 projects that have pushed the boundaries of what’s possible.

We marked the occasion the best way we know how: with a hearty pub lunch, a well-earned beer, and the incredible team-past and present-who made this journey possible.

The World We Started In

A Blip on the Radar

Let’s rewind. In 2014:

  • VR was known mostly from The Simpsons or Lawnmower Man (a terrible, great movie).
  • Metaverse“ wasn’t a word (and frankly, let’s hope it never is again).
  • AR typically stood for “Annual Reports.”

The immersive tech “scene” was more of a speculative dot on the horizon. But where others saw a novelty, we saw a profound shift on the horizon. We envisioned a future where immersive experiences could fundamentally transform how we learn, work, create, and connect.

A Decade in the Trenches, Building the Realities of Tomorrow

The past ten years have been a masterclass in rapid evolution. We’ve been in the trenches through every wave:

  • Riding the first surge of mobile Augmented Reality, putting new power directly into users’ hands.
  • Watching spatial computing evolve from a academic concept to a tangible tool.
  • Helping Virtual Reality become, well… genuinely useful and real.
  • And now, stepping onto the new frontier of  Wearables.

Through every shift, our mission has remained constant: to turn wild, ambitious ideas into tangible experiences and software that move people and change the frontiers of business for our clients.

Our Biggest Thank You

To You, Our Clients

This decade wouldn’t exist without your courage. To every client who partnered with us when XR was deemed “too early” or “too experimental”-thank you.

You trusted us to navigate uncharted territory. You shared the vision that technology could be more than a gadget; it could be a bridge to deeper understanding, a tool for powerful storytelling, and a catalyst for change. Your bravery to innovate has been the essential fuel for our fire. The 400+ projects are not just our achievements; they are shared victories.

And To Our Legendary Team

The Dreamers and Builders

To every past and present member of the Viewport XR team: you are the heart of this decade. You are the alchemists who blend art and engineering, the dreamers who blue-sky the future, and the builders who roll up your sleeves to make the impossible happen. You’ve poured your talent, sweat, and genius into every line of code, every 3D model, and every creative breakthrough. This milestone is yours.

The Next Chapter

Forged in Our Tenth Year

This anniversary isn’t just about looking back. It’s about launching our next chapter. We are thrilled to announce that in our tenth year, a major vision has come to fruition: we are taking three core innovations of our own IP to market.

This shift represents the culmination of countless lessons learned from those 400 projects, distilled into powerful tools and platforms we’ve built ourselves. It’s a proud moment, and a testament to a team that never stops building.

Most people dream of the future. For the last ten years, we’ve been building it.

Here’s to the next decade-and to all the incredible, unrealized realities we haven’t even imagined yet.
